Course Description

COURSE CONTENT

  •  Writing abstracts of professional and scientific articles in the field of food technology, biotechnology and nutrition
  •  Reading more complex professional texts in the field of food technology, biotechnology and nutrition in the original English language.
  •  Analysis of ESP texts and videos in the field of food technology, biotechnology and nutrition in English.
  •  Translation of more complex ESP texts in the field of food technology, biotechnology and nutrition from English into Croatian - in groups or individually
  •  Translation of more complex ESP texts in the field of food technology, biotechnology and nutrition from Croatian into English - in groups or individually
  •  The most common grammatical errors in translating an ESP text - lecture and exercises
  •  Checking and revising grammar in an ESP text in the field of food technology, biotechnology and nutrition.
  •  Understanding short films in food technology, biotechnology and nutrition in English
  •  Discussing film content in English
  •  Asking and answering questions in English
  •  Writing a short summary in English
  •  Revision

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • expand the ESP vocabulary within the field of study
  • translate more complex ESP texts from English to Croatian
  • translate more complex ESP texts  from Croatian to English
  • ask and answer questions about ESP texts and videos in English fluently without too many  grammar mistakes
  • understand and be able to discuss ESP texts and videos in English related to the field of study (food technology, biotechnology and nutrition)
  • write a summary of a text or video in English
