Cell to cell communication is obligatory for the survival of all organisms. It is responsible for the basic cell processes such as differentiation, proliferation, growth and death. These events engage a variety of signaling molecules that bind to cell-surface or intracellular receptors thus inducing a specific cellular responses. In depth understanding of the basic cell signaling pathways is key factor for the drug development of already existed therapeutics (e. g. Herceptin, Gleevec) as well as for the discovery of potential new drugs.
