Višnja Gaurina Srček, PhD

Biography

Višnja Gaurina Srček obtained Bachelor degree in Biochemical Engineering (1994), Master degree in Toxicology (1998) and PhD degree in Biotechnology at the University of Zagreb. In 2007 she habilitated in the field of animal cell technology at the Department of Biochemical Engineering, Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology, University of Zagreb. Since 2017 she is working as Full Professor in Laboratory for Cell Cultures and Biotransformation at the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology. She is a lecturer at Master degree studies programmes: „Bioprocess Engineering”, „Molecular Biotechnology“, “Food Engineering”, “Nutrition” and “Food Management” as well as at PhD programme „Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering“. She is principal investigator of one national scientific project (HRZZ 3848) and participated as PI and researcher in several national research projects. She is supervisor of undergraduate, graduate and PhD students. Her scientific fields of interest are: application of animal cells for the production of therapeutics (vaccines); metabolism of animal cells in culture; optimization of cell culture media by protein hydrolysates supplementation and in vitro toxicology.
