COURSE CONTENT
Computational foundations of prokaryotic genome sequencing. Computational foundations of eukaryotic genome sequencing. Industrial microorganisms with available genome sequences (Bacillus subtilis, Lactococcus lactis, Streptomyces coelicolor, Aspergillus nidulans, Saccharomyces cerevisiae). Sequences of genes or gene clusters encoding biosynthetic pathways of industrially important products. Computational foundations of comparative and functional analysis of all genes present in the cell (genomics, transcriptomics). Computational foundations of protein and small molecule analysis (proteomics, metabolomics). Role of RNA sequences in taxonomy. Molecular approach in evolutionary biology (phylogenetic analysis). Bioinformatics and novel drug design. Gene therapy. Conclusions and perspective.
