Prior to the establishment of the Section for Food Plant Design, teaching and professional activities of food plant design, introduced by Prof. Marijan Rac, PhD, were carried out within the Laboratory for Oil and Fat Technology of the Institute for Food Engineering. In 2002, long-standing teaching and professional activities were organizationally separated from this Laboratory, and the Section for Food Plant Design was established within the Department of Food Engineering, where the first head of the Section was Prof. Željko Mokrovčak, PhD.
