Description:
Introduction to Microbiology. Microbes in the environment, the role in the transformation of the substance and the life of people. Empire-taxonomy, calssification, systematics. Prokaryotes, structure and function of prokaryotic cells, taxonomy, morphology, identification. Determination of the number of viable microbes. The growth curve. Fungi, yeasts and molds, taxonomy and morphology, reproduction, feeding and breeding. Protists, morphology, distribution and activity, reproduction. Viruses, morphology, properties, classification. Properties, conditions of growth and development of microbes and microbial metabolism. Mass transfer through the membrane. The requirements for microbial food. Autotrophic, heterotrophic and hipotrophic microbes. Physical and chemical requirements for growth. Growing microbial culture media. Macromolecules. Metabolism, anabolism, catabolism. The biological catalysts-enzymes. Energy production and central pathways for energy production involving microbes. Biogeochemical activity of microorganisms in the cycles of nature. Control and suppression of the growth of microbes. Microbiocidal and micoriostatic agents. Disinfectants and antiseptics. Chemical agents for sterilization and disinfection. The mechanism of action of antimicrobial agents. The methods of proving its antimicrobial activity. Physical methods of sterilization. Microbial ecology. Biotic and abiotic factors. The interaction between the different organisms. Sintrophism. Antagonism. Predation. Symbiosis. Competition. Black biotechnology-bioterrorism.
