Description:
The aims of the course is to master basic notions of chemical analysis and to apply the concept of chemical equilibrium to analytical problems, as well as to learn sample preparation procedures necessary for further mastery of the study material and future profession. In addition, students will learn the basics of gravimetric, volumetric and UV-VIS spectrometric analytical methods and their application to real samples. Based on the acquired knowledge, students will be able to perform a simpler gravimetric, volumetric and UV-VIS spectrometric analysis of a sample according to the given instructions.
Learning outcomes:
Define and explain basic terminology of chemical analysis
List analytical techniques and explain the principles on which they are based
List and describe the basic techniques of chemical analysis (sample preparation techniques, separation and removal of interfering substances, concentration) and explain the principles on which they are based
Define and explain the basic concepts and describe the principles of chemical analysis based on gravimetric, volumetric and UV-Vis spectrophotometric determination of analytes in a sample
Prepare the sample for analysis according to the instructions and independently perform a simple gravimetric, volumetric and UV-Vis spectrometric analysis of the sample
Calculate the composition of the sample based on the data obtained by gravimetric, volumetric and UV-Vis spectrophotometric analysis
