Description:
Lectures are divided into two parts. One part analyzes the obesity from epidemiology and etiology to body composition, techniques for measuring body fat, secondary causes of obesity, and complications and regulation of obesity (use of drugs and dietary supplements, maintenanceof reduced body weight, prevention). The second part analyzes underweight, from causes of underweightto the diagnostic criteria, and eating disorders (etiology, pathophysiology, nutritional status, psychological support, diet). It points also to the importance of education in the prevention of obesity and underweight. Exercises will allow students to examine the diet problem in Croatia, and during the seminar students will critically analyze information related to weight loss products and dietary supplements based on the scientific literature.
