International Relations Office

International collaboration and interlacing of scientific & educational institutions, witnessed not only on the European, but even on a wider scale, represents an apparent general trend and poses as one of the priorities declared by the academic schooling system. The Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology is involved into scientific and educational activities in the fields of biotechnical, natural and technical sciences. Food Technology, Biotechnology and Nutrition Science represent scientific disciplines that have seen a huge and rapid global advancement in the last few decades. Croatian scientific and academic institutions try their best to keep up with these trends, so that the priorities declared by the FFTB in this regard, closely match those declared by the University of Zagreb that sees internationalisation as one of the most important developmental processes.

To the effect of establishing a systematic and as intense collaboration as possible, a ViceDean for International Collaboration sits on the FFTB Managerial Board ever since 2003; on top of that, the Board for International Collaboration has been appointed as well, composed of both faculty members and students experienced in the matter. In addition, the International Collaboration Office has been established, providing logistic support primarily to students and faculty members striving to enrol into international mobility programmes. There also exists an ECTS Coordinator that helps students choose modules offered by the study curricula of international universities, so as to ensure the conformity with our study curricula and a vertical logic behind individual study programmes.

The international collaboration established by the FFTB assumes a wide variety of forms and represents an integral part of many activities of the Faculty. The basic collaboration forms are the following:

  1. Participation in joint international study programmes
  2. Student and faculty members’ mobility programmes
  3. Collaboration established based on bilateral contracts
  4. Participation in international scientific projects
  5. Organisation of international scientific meetings
  6. Publishing of the international scientific journal
  7. Other forms of international collaboration
