COURSE CONTENT

Lectures:

  1. Overexpression and purification of recombinant proteins (3 h)
  2. Methods of protein engineering to obtain modified and/or improved proteins (6 h)
  3. Protein interactions (3 h)
  4. Protein Engineering with non-natural amino acids (3 h)
  5. pplication of protein engineering in biotechnology, food technology and medicine (6 h)

Seminar:

  1. Seminar presentation of recent relevant paper by students (presentation  + discussion) (3 h)

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • to propose and explain procedures that allow over-expression and recombination of recombinant proteins
  • apply methods of protein engineering to obtain modified and / or improved proteins
  • analyze and propose methods for monitoring protein interactions
  • explain the basic principles of the methodology for the installation of non-natural amino acids in proteins
  • explain the application of protein engineering in biotechnology, food technology and medicine
  • apply the acquired knowledge in the field of microbiology, microbial physiology, molecular biology, genetics and bioinformatics for the purpose of producing biotechnological products
  • interpret, discuss and explain original scientific work in the form of oral communication
