Course Description

COURSE CONTENT

Energy pathways and energy availability. Nutritional assessment: anthropometry and dietary assessment methods. Basic principles of sports nutrition for recreational and professional athletes. Sport specific energy requirements. Carbohydrates and endurance athletes. Protein intake for power and strength athletes. Vitamins and minerals in sports nutrition. Hydration: fluid intake before exercise, during exercise and during recovery. Hydration: thermoregulation and fatigue. Pre-exercise diet/meal. Dietary planning: energy, macronutrient and micronutrient intake. Food pyramid for athletes. Ergogenic aids.
