Laboratory for Microbiology was established in 1956. as the part of the Department of Technical Botany and Microscopy in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Zagreb. Since 1980., after the separation of Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology from the Faculty of Engineering at University of Zagreb, Laboratory is named Laboratory for General Microbiology and Food Microbiology.
